Meet Dr. John
Dr. John Ribeiro brings over a decade of experience in the performance and rehabilitation space to Apex Performance PT. His journey into physical therapy was inspired by his roots as a personal trainer and CrossFit coach, where he first discovered the transformative power of physical rehabilitation and movement. He earned his Bachelor of Science in Biology from Northeastern University and his Doctor of Physical Therapy (cum laude) from the University of Hartford.

Demonstrating his commitment to clinical excellence, Dr. Ribeiro is a board-certified Orthopedic Clinical Specialist (OCS). His extensive clinical toolkit also includes certifications in dry needling, SFMA (Selective Functional Movement Assessment), CrossFit L1 & Mobility, and ICE (Cervical, Lumbar, Extremity, and Pain Management).
What truly sets Dr. Ribeiro apart is his unwavering dedication to his patients. He strives to bring clarity and compassion to the often-complex healthcare system, serving as a relentless advocate for his patients’ well-being and athletic longevity.
His treatment philosophy relies on a systemic approach: treating the whole person, not just the diagnosis. While he utilizes targeted manual therapy, dry needling, and various modalities as a means to an end, creating windows of opportunity for better movement, his primary focus is on driving lasting physical change through progressive loading principles. By integrating foundational strength and conditioning concepts like intensity, volume, and specificity into rehabilitation, he provides true, long-term solutions rather than temporary fixes. Dr. Ribeiro practices what he preaches, applying these exact loading and capacity-building principles to his own training.
He firmly operates on the belief that no one is “unfixable.” The human body is incredibly adaptable, and most people simply need the right physical inputs to get the output they want. By emphasizing corrective neuromuscular re-education and progressive strength training, he helps patients build resilient physical capacity and achieve complete freedom of movement. Regardless of their starting point, Dr. Ribeiro empowers his patients through education to become their own ultimate advocates.
Beyond the clinic, Dr. Ribeiro is a sought-after speaker and lecturer. Leveraging his dual expertise in physical therapy and wellness, he frequently shares his insights on physician and wellness panels throughout Connecticut and New York. Dr. Ribeiro lives in Ridgefield with his wife, Mary, their son, Jackie, and their rescue dog, Fred. When he isn’t treating patients or spending time with his family, you can usually find him training, hiking, or hunting for fresh powder on his snowboard.

How It Works
Our Approach
Explore the tabs below to learn more ↓
Step 1
Start with a 60 minute assessment
Your initial assessment will be a full 60 minutes of one-on-one time with your physical therapist. We’ll take the time to dive into your injury, training history, sleep, stress, nutrition, and all the details that matter most to you. The exam will be tailored to your needs and goals—not just what an insurance form asks for—so we can talk, learn, and create a collaborative plan that fits your life and gets you feeling better.
Step 2
Create a customized program
Following a thorough examination, a personalized plan is created to best fit each individual’s lifestyle. Programs combine 60-minute in-person sessions with ongoing access to a digital fitness app. The app provides a tailored performance physical therapy plan that continuously evolves over time, eliminating uncertainty between sessions and moving beyond static, cookie-cutter programs.
Step 3
Stay connected between visits
Membership includes direct access to support throughout the day via the fitness app. Features include in-app messaging, the ability to comment on specific workout elements, and video submissions for form checks. Questions and concerns no longer have to wait until the next session—issues are addressed within 24 hours to keep progress on track and goals within reach.
Step 4
Focus on long-term health
The program is designed to be customizable, allowing adjustments based on individual needs and goals. Support is available for improving key areas of health and wellness such as sleep, nutrition, stress, and daily routines, with tips and habit-building strategies provided through the digital platform. Continued monthly subscription options are available, offering tailored workouts that focus on performance goals and long-term health.
Our Fitness App

Our training program is designed for active individuals who want to recover smarter, move better, and perform at their best—on their own schedule. Delivered through an easy-to-use digital platform, your plan can be followed anytime, anywhere, giving you the flexibility to train or rehab effectively without sacrificing results.
